Going Keto and Miss Bailey’s Irish Creme?
For every 100ml of the famed cremed liquor, there are 21 grams of carbohydrates, 18 of which are sugar. In comparison, half a can of Coke-Cola has 19.5 grams of carbohydrates. Considering that it could also be mixed in other drinks and cocktails, this adds up. So a single shot of Bailey’s will be more than enough to knock you out of ketosis and spike your blood sugar.
Would you like a recipe for a Bailey-like that only has 4g for the equivalent serving size? Keep reading! Only three ingredients!
Of course, the first ingredient is whiskey. This is what gives Bailey its alcohol content. We recommend an Irish Whiskey, like Jameson, however, you can substitute it with any unflavored whiskey.
You also need cream. We recommend Half-n-Half or table cream. The more fat in the milk, the lower the carb count. Half-n-half has 10 grams per 250ml, compared to 13 grams in the same amount of 1%.
Lastly, we need the Irish cream flavouring. There are brands of sugar-free coffee syrup on the market. This recipe uses Matteo’s Irish Cream Coffee Syrup, though an equivalent brand could be used.
Enough faffing for SEO compliance. Here is the recipe:
For 1.1L of Keto Bailey’s-Like
- 750ml (3 cups) of Half and Half Cream
- 250ml (1 cup) of Whiskey
- 100ml (~1/2 cup) of Matteo’s Irish Cream Coffee Syrup
For single serving
- 250ml (1 cup) of Half-n-Half Cream
- 1 shot (50ml) of Whiskey
- 50mls (1 shot) of Matteo’s Irish Cream Coffee Syrup
Pour and enjoy!
